Innovations for Sustainable Agriculture"Fusion of Science and Technology for Sustainable Food Production"
The sharing advances and applications of optical technology are discussed in promoting the
integration of science and technology towards advancement of sustainable agriculture on
international information exchange.July 20 at 11:30 - 12:00, 2026Tetsuo Iwaki(Agri Open Innovation Institute)
Innovations for Sustainable Agriculture"Agri Open Innovation: Efforts to Enhance Agricultural Productivity Through Open Innovation"
This presentation introduces activities and case studies by the AOI Institute to enhance
agricultural productivity through open innovation and advanced technologies, showing
initiatives for sustainable regional economic growth through collaboration with related
fields.July 20 at 01:00 - 01:30, 2026Hiromichi Itoh(Graduate School of Agricultural Science, Kobe University)
Innovations for Sustainable Agriculture"Application of Speaking Plant Approach to Growth Control of Saffron (Crocus sativus L.)"
Daughter corm development of saffron was conducted in growth chambers. In an
experimental treatment, air temperature was adjusted according to sink strength of the
daughter corm, which was measured non-destructively by near infrared spectroscopy.July 20 at 01:30 - 02:00, 2026Kotaro Takayama(Toyohashi University of Technology, Ehime University)
Innovations for Sustainable Agriculture"Implementing the Speaking Plant Approach for Advanced Environmental Control in Greenhouse Horticulture"
This lecture introduces the Speaking Plant Approach (SPA) for advanced environmental
control in horticulture. SPA determines optimal control strategies based on real-time plant
physiological responses, including canopy-level photosynthesis and growth dynamics. By
integrating plant sensing technologies with semi-closed greenhouse systems, SPA enables
profitable and sustainable production.July 20 at 02:00 - 02:30, 2026Ryoei Kawabata(LIFE AI)
Innovations for Sustainable Agriculture"Field-Driven Deployment of Organic Photovoltaics (OPV)for Agricultural Use in Japan"
This presentation explores field-driven deployment of organic photovoltaics (OPV) for agricultural use in Japan. It examines market momentum, customer segments, supply-chain constraints, and insights from on-site demonstrations, highlighting Japan-specifi coperational challenges and pathways toward scalable implementation.July 20 at 02:30 - 03:00, 2026Akane Mizusawa(Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology)
Agri Photonics: Optical Technologies for Agriculture"Enhancement of soybean growth with phosphatesolubilizing bacteria and recycled phosphorus"
Phosphorus recycled from wastewater and phosphate solubilizing bacteria that promote plant phosphorus uptake were isolated from soil. By combining both, an effective soybean fertilizer was developed, indicating its potential as an alternative to chemical fertilizers.July 24 at 10:00 - 10:30, 2026Xinyue Li(National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (NARO), Japan)
Agri Photonics: Optical Technologies for Agriculture"Accuracy Comparison between Averaged Reflectance Spectrum Analysis and Spectral Image Using Machine Learning for Early Detection of Mango Stem-End Rot"
Nondestructive NIR spectroscopy was used to assess tomato sensory quality and broccoli freshness. The working mechanisms of NIR calibration models were then revealed through food metabolomics, helping develop science-based NIR spectroscopic methods for applications.July 24 at 11:10 - 11:40, 2026Yoshihisa Usami(Farmship, Inc.)
Agri Photonics: Optical Technologies for Agriculture"From Lettuce to Matcha: Photonics- and AI-Driven Innovation in Plant Factories"
